Austin’s Sons of Fathers burned bright, exploding nationally with three albums of rootsy folk-rock, all before announcing an indefinite hiatus last year. This past spring, singer and bassist David Beck jumped in a new direction with his band Blue Healer. The trio trades cowboy boots for synthesizers, but the switch isn’t as drastic as you’d think. Beck’s ear for melody and harmony keeps things from getting too far off into the weeds, and the band’s electro-rock is a nice fit.
