Here’s the bottom line, an undeniable fact: Charlie Belle is outstanding. Whether you’re hearing tracks on their debut EP Get To Know for the first time, or the songs on their forthcoming release I Don’t Want To Be Alone, you soon discover that, quite simply, it’s music that gets you instantly hooked. Teen sibling duo Jendayi Bonds and Gyasi Bonds create pop with something distinctively refined and pure about it. And several music reviews gushingly refer to something else that’s absolutely noteworthy: Jendayi’s exquisite songwriting, which shows a maturity well beyond her years. There’s a melancholic tone to it that’s surprisingly rich with an emotional depth one would not expect.
You will get hooked. Their new EP is being released this Friday, but you won’t want to miss Charlie Belle at their EP release show tonight at Stubb’s indoor venue, 801 Red River. Doors open at 8 p.m. Very recommended.
