Local trio Migrant Kids has always been upfront about the influences that drive them to create. They aren’t always limited to musical influences, either. Just place your mind within an ethereal realm powered by the natural elements, vibrations, and atmospheres. Imagine the rawest emotions one would release through method acting. Then, without any warning, David Lynch seems to have wandered into the fray to unleash whatever comes to mind. Hello. Welcome to Migrant Kids’ uninhibited sense of flow.

These are exciting times for the band. They recently had some tour dates with longtime friends The Bright Light Social Hour, who also produced Migrant Kids’ latest single, “Thread” (featured on today’s Austin Music Minute). More new music is coming soon, but tonight they’re opening Hard Proof‘s residency show at Empire Control Room, 606 E. 7th St. Hip-hop outfit Magna Carda rounds it out quite nicely. Doors open at 8 p.m. All three of these badass bands in one massive gig? Sign me up. So recommended.
