Livin’ For the Livin’

Sam Hadfield is originally from Paducah, KY, and throughout his childhood was instilled with not only a strong sense of family, but also of music. By the age of 18, he was writing songs inspired by all the music his father had shared with him, like Dylan, John Prine and Guy Clark. Hadfield felt a strong connection toward the sincerity and simplicity of using plainly-spoken language to tell complex stories.

He released his first EP, Brook Street, while still attending college in Louisville. After college, he made his way to Austin to further pursue his songwriting, and released a new album last month, Livin’ With Free Livin’ On My Mind, recorded by Matt Simon (Belaire, Tele Novela) at Eastern Sun Audio, and featuring accompaniment by Simon, James Bookert, Bobby Fitzgerald, and Horti Llosa and Joe Deuce of Whiskey Shivers.

Hadfield is a busy man these days, and tonight, you have two opportunities to see him perform. He’ll do his August residency show this evening at The Buzz Mill, 1505 Town Creek Blvd. off E. Riverside Dr., from 9 to 10 p.m. Then he’ll make a mad dash over to the Scoot Inn, 1308 E. 4th St. at Navasota, to wrap up the night at Hello Wheels‘ residency show with a set starting at 11 p.m.

If you can’t catch one show, you can surely catch the other. Recommended.
