Take a gander through any issue of She Shreds Magazine, and you’ll find portrait after portrait of all manner of guitarists and bassists, multi-talented, of many genres; burgeoning songwriters and well-established artists; pioneers and rising stars. Some are musicians you may not have even heard of, who influenced countless artists after them. They are all musicians who need to be heard. And they’re women.
She Shreds offers insight into the unique experience of women musicians, with an emphasis on changing how they’re perceived by the media and the music industry. The publication also hosts a series of live music events in Portland (the She Shreds home base) and cities across the country to help spread the word.
One of those cool shows is happening tonight at the Scoot Inn, 1308 E. 4th St. The killer line-up is a perfect mix of local and touring bands: Broncho, Sunflower Bean (featured on today’s Austin Music Minute), AMM fave Annabelle Chairlegs, Topo Chica, Clare and Blushing. Doors open early at 6 p.m.
Shredding and badassery a-plenty. Expect no less. The time is now. Recommended.
