Lucky for you this new hairstyle revolution comes with an anthem. Released back in February on Nonesuch Records (Lianne La Havas, Joni Mitchell, The Black Keys), Side Pony is Lake Street Dive’s fifth full-length album and it’s every bit as bold and confident as the proposed hairstyle. Rachael Price’s soulful vocals bring the unwavering strength of Florence Welch and an energy reminiscent of some of the most memorable women in jazz. Meanwhile, bassist Bridget Kearney jams out on the upright bass with unparalleled personality. It’s the charisma of retro Motown, the power of old-school soul, the technique of classic jazz, and the appeal of modern day pop.
