Hit musical “One Night With Janis Joplin” may be headed to Broadway, but not before stopping by the KUTX studios, first. The musical, which premiered right here in Texas, was created, written, and directed by Randy Johnson, and stars Kacee Clanton as Janis Joplin and Tiffany Mann as the Blues Singer. The story not only spotlights Joplin’s legendary career as Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, but also focuses on the various blues artists who inspired Joplin, including Bessie Smith, Aretha Franklin, and Nina Simone, all played by Mann. “Joplin” is a full concert experience, featuring Joplin’s classic hits sung by Clanton with the help of a live onstage band. The show has been playing at ZACH Theatre, and has received rave reviews.
