Mario Matteoli may be most recognized for leading well-known Austin band The Weary Boys a number of years back, but his current band The Preservation has received some well-deserved attention, as well. Matteoli formed the band with his wife, Cayce Matteoli (keys/vocals), Andy Bianculli (vocals/instrumentals), Ben Burdick (bass/vocals), Josh Weinholt (drums), and Andrew Collberg (instrumentals) in the late 2000s. Their tunes are heavily influenced by the music of the 60s, including the 60s girl groups that were popular at the time, as well as chamber pop and psych and garage rock. Their breezy indie folk music has made waves in Austin’s music scene, and they played songs off their most recent album, Two Sisters, when they performed at the 2013 ACL Music Festival. They have shared the stage with Black Joe Lewis, White Denim, and Shakey Graves, and they were in our Studio 1A for a live performance at this past week – you can check it out right here!
