David Ramirez & Erin Ivey at KUTX 8.21.13

As dedicated KUTX listeners, you guys probably know we like to play a lot of David Ramirez around here. And who can blame us? The Austinite is an incredibly talented songwriter, and an amazing musician, to boot. His emotional, raw, haunting lyrics are guaranteed to make you feel all of the emotions, and his music is an incredibly enjoyable listening experience. After hearing a Ryan Adams album as a college student, he was inspired to explore how the powerful lyricism that is evident in his own tunes today can affect change in people. His 2012 debut album “Apologies” debuted to rave reviews and was high on the charts, especially for an Americana singer/songwriter. His latest release, “The Rooster EP,” has received impressive radio play and is truly an amazing compilation of beautiful songs.

These days, he’s touring with Erin Ivey, another Austin favorite. The urban folk/pop songstress was named one of Austin’s Top Four Unsigned Artists, and her charismatic, entertaining live performances are widely known as shows that are not to be missed. Her newest album, “Dreamy Weather,” was made possible by a Kickstarter campaign, a prime illustration of the unwavering dedication of her fans.

Both musicians were in our studio for an enchanting live performance in Studio 1A with John Aelli on Wednesday, August 21st – Check out the beautiful audio from the session right here! You can also catch the pair at Stubb’s BBQ on August 23rd.
