Johnathan Rice 6.12.19

Johnathan Rice’s The Long Game is his first studio album in six years marking a semi-prodigal return to songwriting and performing. The songs, stark and bare, feature Rice’s vocals and guitar up front and explore the disintegration of a long-term relationship among other things. He stopped in Studio 1A to play a few and explain the three or four years of songwriting that went into his return record, the first of which he felt confident enough to strip back production to the bare minimum. Although he’s taken a break from putting out music under his own name until now, Rice has kept busy collaborating on the work of other artists and even put out a book of dystopian haikus in 2017- one that gained him the title of “the beat poet of the instagram generation” by W Mag.
