Justin Fallen is from Virginia, but Texas stole his heart. In fact, his latest album, The Country Hero (2013) includes songs entitled, “This Life in Texas,” “Lord Knows It’s Hot,” and “From a Cavern in the Dirt (To Miss Barton Springs).” The record also features some of the finest musicians central Texas has to offer, including Bobby Fitzgerald (The Whiskey Shivers), the Hard Proof Horns from Black Joe Lewis, Landry McMeans (The Lonesome Heroes), singer-songwriter, Nicolette Good, producer, Matt Simon, and Phil Ajjarapu on the strings. Their music “blends a modern troubadour’s poetic sensibility with song structures that are simultaneously simple and intricate.” I guess that’s what you get when you cross the manners of a Virginian, with the country swag of a Texan, and you strap him with a 1967 Epiphone Texan/Mexican Fended Stratocaster. The band happens to be in the middle of a one month residency at The Spider House Ballroom (February 5 through March 5)! Their next set is February 26 and they’ll be joined by Molybden and R.F. Shannon. Show starts at 7 p.m. Check out their live performance with us RIGHT HERE!
