Austin-based R&B singer-songwriter Tje Austin (pronounced “tie”) has one of those voices that you’ll want to talk you down from rage quitting your day job and throwing a glass of red wine in your bosses face. Why do you have a glass of red wine at your desk, one might ask? Well that’s no one else’s business, but Tje Austin will make you feel like it’s an ok choice. Born and raised in Hawaii, Austin eventually made his way to the University of Texas, where he realized that political science was not for him, and flipped his music hobby into a career. His music can broadly be described as R&B, but Tje Austin is simultaneously following in the footsteps of Lenny Kravitz and John Legend and blazing his own trail, his silky smooth and soulful voice leading the way. Tje Austin came by Studio 1A to show us some tunes from his most recent release, “I Belong to You” that came out earlier this year.
