Austin Music Experience: Spoon, American Analog Set & More

About a decade ago, pop-punk and boy bands ruled the airwaves, but the American Analog Set charted a different path. The Austin band’s 2001 album Know By Heart just got a vinyl re-issue, and this week on the Austin Music Experience, we talk with frontman Andrew Kenny about influencing blink-182, Death Cab For Cutie, and being a punk band with a xylophone. Plus, Nikki Lane brings her country croon to Studio 1A with a pair of live songs. She also gives us the lowdown on working with the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach for her new album, All Or Nothin’. Also, Spoon is back. New music from them, back and forth with Andrew Bird, back to the ’60s with Ian McLagan and the Small Faces, and we find out where Apple pioneer Steve Wozniak and Flatlander Joe Ely intersect.
