A Real Good Time

This night is too special for words, so your humble Austin Music Minute maven will keep it brief. This is the hoot night of all hoot nights – in celebration of the music of Small Faces and Faces at The Sahara Lounge. And a very special guest will be present – none other than Ian McLagan himself.

It’s been dubbed the The Three Button Hand Me Down Own Up Time Faces/Small Faces Hoot, quite a mouthful but totally indicative of what a great time it’s gonna be. Several of Austin’s talented musicians will be on hand to do their best renditions of all the classic Faces and Small Faces tracks, and maybe even a few extra rare treats (there’s always one or two bands who bring it). Everything gets started tonight at 8 p.m. at The Sahara Lounge, 1413 Webberville Rd.

It’s a huge list of peeps gathering for this event: Idyll Green (formerly Hacienda), Slowtrain, JoDee Purkeypile & The Messengers, Tameca Jones, Michael Booher, Sounds Del Mar, Brother Superior, Jesse Vain & The Happy Hour Holiness Movement, The Hang, Stewart’s Rod, Sally Crewe, Lisa Marshall, The Footnotes, Freddie Steady KRC & Friends, and Daniel Thomas Phipps and The Kinfolk.

It’s a busy week for McLagan, by the way. Join Mac and The Bump Band for his United States album release show Friday at The Saxon Pub, 1320 S. Lamar Blvd. All good. Recommended.
