A Sweet Celebration

Who:  There’s a lot of talent in the whirlwind energy that is Sweet Spirit, including former Bobby Jealousy vocalist Sabrina Ellis.

What: They’re launching a Saturday-night residency that lasts throughout July at The Blackheart.

When: The first residency show starts early today – doors open at noon for continued Independence Day weekend celebrations, and the music starts at 5 p.m.

Where: The Blackheart, 86 Rainey St., on both the inside and outside stages.

Why: Get a load of this massive line-up. The first band on is Houston quartet Born Again Virgins (5 p.m.), followed by The Electric Friends (6 p.m.), Burgess Meredith (7 p.m.), Genuine Leather (7:30 p.m.), Kazi (8 p.m.), Lowin (8:30 p.m.), A. Sinclair (9 p.m.), One-Hitters (9:30 p.m.), The Sour Notes (10 p.m.), Feral Future (10:30 p.m.), Mirror Travel (11 p.m.), and of course, Sweet Spirit (midnight). What a magnificent way to start a residency. Recommended.
