The Austin Music Minute must give credit where credit is due. KUTX host Susan Castle recommended today’s fantastic artist pick, as part of the AMM weeklong feature on ACL Fest official late night shows. There’s no holding back on the infectious grooves of LA-based outfit Vulfpeck.
Founded in 2011, the group of friends at the University of Michigan began piecing together a diverse selection musical influences that shape Vulfpeck’s sound. Initially, you get the flavor of funk, but more rises to the surface, everything from jazz to electronic to soul. Give a listen to their album The Beautiful Game and explore just how much the mood and momentum fly all over the map.
Vulfpeck is scheduled for a set at 4:15 p.m. this Friday at ACL Fest, but you’ll have two chances to see them sooner than that – tonight and tomorrow night at Emo’s, 2015 E. Riverside Drive. Joey Dosik opens both nights. Doors open at 7 p.m.
Addictive in the best way possible. Very recommended.
