All In the Family

Perhaps you are already aware that songwriter William Harries Graham comes from rather a talented family background. Dad happens to be a gent by the name of Jon Dee Graham. There’s a legacy here of excellent songwriting, musicianship and…badassery. But all one has to do is give a listen to tracks from the younger Graham’s band The Painted Redstarts‘ forthcoming full length release, Foreign Fields, like the title track and “Mystical Ways,” and it doesn’t take much to figure out this is an artist who is a standout in his own right.

Graham, band co-founder Sam Jackson and James Caldwell have been getting high praises from local/regional media, including the Austin Chronicle and Texas Monthly, and national attention from the New York Times and Rolling Stone Magazine, all pretty much proclaiming that this is definitely a band to watch. Make plans to check out The Painted Redstarts tonight at The Continental Club, 1315 S. Congress Ave., starting at 9:30 p.m. And a special treat: Jon Dee Graham follows at 10:15 p.m., and Collin Herring and The Bridge Burners take to the stage at midnight. Recommended.
