AMM SXSW: Friday Showcases

Congratulations. You’ve made it to Friday. SXSW is nearly over, but there’s a lot more to check out over these last two days. Here are the Austin Music Minute‘s recs for today’s SX adventures:

-This is a massive one, with lots of local talent. Gigtown Presents the Future of Music Showcase at Shiner’s Saloon, 422 Congress Ave., is from noon-2 a.m. today and tomorrow. Today’s continues with sets by Major Grizz, MCG, Taylor & The Wild Now, K Phillips, The Docs, Ruby Jane, Harvest Thieves, and Sour Bridges on Stage 1; and Daniel Eyes & The Vibes, Migrant Kids, Hydra Melody, KI, Ghostbunny, The Peach Kings, Emily Bell, Sweet Spirit, Calliope Musicals (featured on today’s AMM), Danny Malone on Stage 2.

-There’s a SXSW showcase at TenOak Bourbon House, 409 Colorado, 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. tonight, featuring The Vanity, Santah, Pageantry, Black Books, BUHU, and Casual Strangers.

The Midgetmen are insane, and of course, they know how to throw a party with killer music. That would include Jumpstart #9 at the Side Bar, 602 E. 7th, continuing now until 7 p.m. with Slothrust, The Midgetmen, and Sioux Falls on the outside stage; and SAVAK and Yung on the inside stage.

-Here’s an extra for you. The All Scene Eye Ball has a showcase at Badlands, 1203 Chicon, happening now until 7 p.m., with Shapescenes, Tennis System, Transit Method, and Hobart W Fink.

And some performances you should have on your list:

Diarrhea Planet (Nashville), 11:50 p.m. tonight at Barracuda.

The High Strung (Detroit), 11 p.m. at The Velveeta Room.

Capsula (Buenos Aires), 1 a.m. at Javelina.
