Food Group lets you know up front – they’ve got music for your psyche. And this would be the wider-reaching depths of one’s psyche. Their LP Here Today feeds the mind with an expansive ambient atmosphere mixing folk, psychedelia, dream pop and shoegaze. But, while definitely spacey and otherworldly in various ways, there’s something at the heart of it inspired by traditional sounds.
It’s an Austin Music Minute fave. See Food Group tonight at The Sidewinder, 715 Red River. They share the bill with rockers Futon Blonde and rock/punk outfit Bear on Bear. Doors open at 8 p.m., and the music starts at 9 p.m. Recommended.
