Since their 2012 debut with the heavy-chuggin’ stoner ear feast, Our Mother Electricity, Nashville outfit All Them Witches has been a whirlwind of nonstop touring – and gear-shifting. Each release that followed, from Lightning At the Door (2013) to their latest, ATW, pivoted toward a different direction, like an about-face stylistically. With guitarist Brian McLeod as producer, ATW takes on a more a stripped-down route with a rawer psych trip.
A recent post on All Them Witches’ Facebook page shared major some news: The band is now a trio indefinitely, with McLeod, drummer Robby Staebler, and vocalist Charles Michael Parks, Jr. remaining as the core line-up, without keyboardist Jonathan Draper (who had replaced Allan Van Cleave). Some fans are (to put it mildly) curious about the effect on ATW’s sound minus the keys.
You can judge for yourself when All Them Witches performs tonight at Antone’s, 305 E. 5th St. Buffalo, NY blues/garage rockers Handsome Jack start the night out. Doors open at 8 p.m. Check it out.
