Become Who You Are

Holiday Mountain was already gaining momentum and turning heads in their hometown of Boston. It wasn’t that long ago when they performed, as headliners, to a crowd of 1500 at the Institute of Contemporary Art. There were already rave reviews of their 2012 release Become Who You Are, lots of media attention, and fans going wild. But, as any band with this much talent and creativity willing to step out of their comfort zone would do, they set their sights on Austin to work on new material. They arrived eight months ago and immediately threw themselves into their music. And our local scene is all the better for it.

There’s a buzz brewing over Holiday Mountain, and rightly so. They make an extraordinary brand of psychedelic dub pop that comes from another planet, incorporating a mad mish-mash of reggae, tropical, jungle and electro beats that drives crowds into a wild dance frenzy. New tunes are on the way from this band-on-the-rise. One to definitely keep an eye on.

Meanwhile, get your fix of Holiday Mountain tonight at The North Door, at E. 5th and Brushy St. The entire line-up reads like a guaranteed dance party: Corduroi, Flavor Raid and Young Pharaohs. Doors open at 9:30 p.m. and the music starts at 10 p.m. Highly recommended.
