Big Free Week Friday

It’s a great problem to have, but an overwhelming one at times. The Austin Music Minute has a big bunch of Free Week recommendations for tonight, and it’s all ridiculously good! Take your pick – but it won’t be easy…

-It’s not gigantic; it’s not enormous. It’s GI-NORMOUS. The first night of the Free For Y’all Free Week show at Fair Market, 1100 E. 5th, kicks off tonight with Body Rock ATX, Riders Against the Storm and countless other artists to keep you moving. Check out their official website for the full schedule and artist list.

Nine Mile Records celebrates its 10th anniversary with a huge Free Week show at the Mohawk, featuring Matthew Logan Vasquez (Delta Spirit), Sweet Spirit, A. Sinclair, and Tinnarose on the outside stage; Sounds Del Mar, Löwin, Ben Ballinger, and Modrag on the inside stage. 7 p.m.

-How cool is this? The KUTX Artist of the Month Harvest Thieves have their album release show at the Historic Scoot Inn, 1308 E. 4th, with special guests Leo Rondeau, Star Parks, and Greg Loftus. Indoor show, doors open at 8 p.m.

Lucy the Poodle Productions presents a Free Week show at The Sidewinder, 715 Red River, with Knifight, GOBI, Otis the Destroyer and Hours Quiet on the outside stage; Technicolor Hearts, Orthy, Stiletto Feels, The Human Circuit and Francine Thirteen on the inside stage. 7 p.m.

Austin Vida is having their Barrio Bash Vol. VI Free Week show at Flamingo Cantina, 515 E. 6th St., with Los Callejeros de San Antonio, Kiko Villamizar, Afrofreque, and Monoceja. So awesome. Doors at 8 p.m.

-Yet another biggie at Empire Control Room, 606 E. 7th. Nonstop live music with Quiet Company, Calliope Musicals, Young Tongue, Strange Fiction, and The Dirty Heat, outside; Taylor and The Wild Now, The Deer (“Do Return” is featured on today’s AMM), MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR, Darkbird, Edison Chair, and Scott Collins. This…is a lot of badassery. Doors at 7:30 p.m.

-Overwhelmed yet? But the AMM far from finished! You can catch Shivery Shakes, The Sour Notes, and Mean Jolene at Lambert’s, 401 W. 2nd; and an excellent bill featuring Booher, Daniel Francis Doyle & The Dreams, and Lolita Lynne at Barracuda Austin, 611 E. 7th st.

Did we include everyone? Most likely not. Go out there and take in some live music. NOW.
