Hope is the only thing. Delta Sleep cuts through the darkness with cathartic release.
Brighton post-hardcore outfit Delta Sleep examines the maddening helplessness seizing the world on their fourth studio release, Blue Garden, drawing from wells of fantasy and reality, and diving into a vast darkness in which somehow exists a single sliver of light to break out of despair. Complex arrangements, a meshing of rock, punk and electronic influences, and the chance to play instruments not often used by the band give Blue Garden an almost ominous presence.
“It feels like there’s a grey cloud over everything that’s always in the back of your mind,” says vocalist Devin Yüceil. “There’s this thing happening that’s not right and it’s clouding any sense of joy or happiness and yet we still have to carry on with our normal lives. It’s about not knowing what to do and not knowing how to talk about it.”
Delta Sleep brings their Blue Garden tour to Austin for a show tonight at Far Out Lounge and Stage. They share the bill with Orlando, FL quartet Teen Suicide and San Francisco alt.-pop rockers Carpool Tunnel. Doors at 6 p.m.
