Carrie Fussell brings you the sensual, the sinister, something surreptitious…and something so vulnerable.
Some may say forbidden fruit. Others…sink their teeth right in.
“Cherry” by Carrie Fussell’s art rock outfit BRUCE simultaneously indulges in sultry vibes and a badass attitude hiding much beneath the surface. The story is that Fussell wrote it just before a performance at The Continental Club – and played it that very same night.
Who? When? What the hell? As with any intriguing song, you’ll mostly likely bring your own story to the table, but there’s no denying the slightly disquieting tone slinking about, just a fleeting glimpse into something soul-crushing, maybe wounded, but certainly not defeated.
Catch BRUCE’s next residency show tonight at The Continental Club. Fussell and crew conjure the dark magic at the witching hour. Jon Dee Graham is on before at 10:15 p.m., William Harries Graham at 9:30 p.m.
