The Growlers, being the badass awesome dudes that they are, were ready to go for their scheduled Studio 1A performance this afternoon. But front man Brooks Nielson must’ve had one hell of a night at last night’s sold out Mohawk show, the first night of a two-date engagement at the Red River venue. Nielson awoke today with practically no voice – which can be an absolute nightmare when, hello, you rely on your voice day to day. He was forced to lay low and nurse his vocal chords for tonight’s show, and as a result, today’s Studio 1A set was cancelled.
However, as your AMM host mentioned earlier, being the very cool dudes they are, a few of the guys from The Growlers dropped by KUTX late this afternoon to offer very gracious apologies for not being able to play. Guys, no worries whatsoever. Nielson – get that voice back in order so you can go crazy again this evening. The always reckless and unhinged Surfbort opens again tonight. Doors at 6:30 p.m., and the show is on the outdoor stage.
