Club Zaza

No, dear, you can’t take this one sitting down.

You go to a CAPYAC show, and you absolutely cannot expect to not move. They effortlessly flow across the range of funk, soul, and R&B grooves with an added electronic frenzy, triggering the part of the brain that demands you to move.

Granted, the band moved in a slightly different direction with the release of their EP Fis in February, aiming more for the electro jugular but still ultra-funky and totally CAPYAC, and word is they’re working on more new music with a multitude of pop and hip-hop vibes, tentatively scheduled for release this fall.

Nothing could be more appropriate for International Dance Day today that the launch of CAPYAC’s Club Zaza, a new series of curated dance experiences with – natch – a live CAPYAC soundtrack. The first event happens tonight at The Sidewinder, 715 Red River. The band will share some new tunes, and joining them on the bill are Continental Drift and Lambda. Doors open at 8 p.m., and, in CAPYAC’s own words, “Costumes encouraged. Dancing enforced.”

You – better – WERK. Recommended.
