Damn Good Rock ‘N’ Roll

Imagine speeding out of control, clocking over 100mph on the highway. Seat belts won’t do you any good. It’s reckless, loud and the baddest, wickedest trip you’ll ever have. Welcome to the rock ‘n’ roll of Labretta Suede and The Motel 6. Ain’t no stoppin’ you now, hoodlum.

Getting their start in 2005, the Auckland, NZ rockers are true devotees to the roots of where it all began, mixing ’50s-inspired rock, rockabilly, punk, blues, and a bit of twang with generous amounts of distortion, high volume, and the brassy, sassy, badass-y vocals of front woman Labretta Suede. She shows no mercy. We need more people like her fronting bands. Period.

Get yourself together and see Labretta Suede and The Motel 6 tonight at Barracuda, 611 E. 7th St. It’s a special night featuring the recently reunited rock beasts Midwest Monster, the very rockin’ Annie Marie Lewis & Danny B. Harvey, and DJ Jake Garcia (The Black Angels) spinning between sets. Doors open at 9 p.m.

Can you take it? We’ll see about that. Recommended.
