This band’s got the love. Seriously. And because of this deep reverence they hold for great musical artists who paved the way before them – think Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, James Brown, and holy smokes, don’t leave Townes out – their own style is pretty damn impressive.
There are three guys in Porterdavis, only you wouldn’t know it because of their massive sound. Dan Barrett‘s got the guitars covered, Simon Wallace works the blues harp like nobody’s business, and the mighty Mike Meadows wreaks havoc with the wicked percussion. They aren’t afraid to play it dirty (as roots music should be, dang it), doing this audacious mix of blues, folk and R&B that’s loose, free and badass. All of this high-voltage power crackles through on their latest release, Extra Electric Infinite.
The volume knob exceeds far past eleven on this smokin’ baby. Porterdavis plays the new tunes at their release show tonight at The Saxon Pub, 1320 S. Lamar Blvd. The show kicks off at 10 p.m.
They’ll show no mercy. This one comes very recommended.
