The Austin Music Minute is supported by Howler Brothers, an Austin-based designer of creative outdoor apparel since 2011, and by Planet K, Austin’s local hemp emporium since 1990.
Mahashmashana takes things to a new level of grandeur. Then again, Mr. Tillman is no stranger to audaciousness.
In the mundane world, where various entities insist on official identification, the songwriter and musician christened Joshua Michael Tillman chose a more free-flowing freaky universe where the planets spin as they please to become Father John Misty. In this most recent galactic trip, FJM brings us his most apocalyptic anecdotal adventure yet, Mahashmashana, the “great cremation ground” (translated) of upbeat decadence and melodramatic sweeps observing – experiencing – the absurdity and beauty of existence.
The Mahashmashana tour lands in Austin tomorrow night at Moody Amphitheater. Doors at 6:30 p.m. Songwriter Max Clarke’s musical project Cut Worms opens the show.
