Follow the Woodsmoke

Your Austin Music Maven has been swooning over this album since its release last year. You’ll find you can easily lose yourself within the natural beauty and sublime tone throughout Raina Rose‘s Caldera.  It’s her fifth solo effort, a graceful work with a deep connection to the mystique of nature. Rose used to teach environmental science to kids on the Oregon coast about nine or so years ago, after graduating from high school in Portland, and it didn’t take long for all the lush, green surroundings there to convince her that making music was her true calling.

Make sure that you see Raina Rose and her band tonight at Strange Brew, 5326 Manchaca Rd. It’s an early set that starts at 6 p.m., followed by Jimmy LaFave at 8 p.m. and from Livingston, MT, Sean Michael Devine at 10 p.m. Recommended.
