Tune Yards’ Merrill Garbus teamed up with longtime collaborator Nate Brenner for her latest multi-colored, polymorphic art-pop release, I Can Feel You Creep into My Private Life. There’s a lot to absorb sonically, in all its eclectic and electrifying glory, and it takes an even bolder step toward electronic dance music – something Garbus was not initially too crazy about. However, as any good musician, rather than dismissively pushing EDM completely aside, she began to learn more about it and explored sounds that would work with Tune-Yards’ approach and aesthetic.
Tune Yards will be in Austin for a show tomorrow night at Emo’s, 2015 E. Riverside Dr. NYC-based artist My Brightest Diamond starts the show. Doors open at 7 p.m. If you’ve not had the pleasure of experiencing a Tune-Yards performance live, this is a wonderful opportunity. The joy and raw power will leave you blown away. Recommended.
