Friday Fun Day

Fun Fun Fun Fest 2013 is underway. Here are but a few suggestions from your friendly neighborhood Austin Music Minute maven that you should check out today:

— Sound and vision. And beyond. ((sounder)) is the musical project of visual artist and video producer Mike Aho, melding folk and classic rocks sounds with entrancing visual artistry. Check out ((sounder)) on the Yellow Stage at 6:15 p.m.

– I’ve been playing Thee Oh SeesFloating Coffin over and over again. This is a wonderful band that you cannot pin a single label on. They wriggle all over the map – pop, psych, rock, folk, for cryin’ out loud – and relish every insane minute of it ’til it hurts. Seeing them live makes it all the more fun. Thee Oh Sees are on the Black Stage at 6:25 p.m.

– This is, hands down, hip hop with conscience. Rapper, producer and Grammy-winner Lupe Fiasco doesn’t have to deliver lip service about keeping it real. He just does. Lupe Fiasco goes on the Blue Stage at 7:25 p.m.

– There hadn’t been enough adjustment time to refer to Snoop Dogg as Snoop Lion. Recently, however, he became Snoopzilla. Which is…pretty damned awesome. For the FFF bill, though, he remains Snoop Dogg, and you can see him on the Orange Stage at 8:45 p.m.

Enjoy your first day of Fun Fun Funning. More recommendations are on the way, and stay tuned to KUTX for exclusive FFF Fest coverage.
