From Canada With Love

Who: Austin-based Americana artist Emilie Clepper is originally from Montreal, Quebec, where she was hailed as one of her hometown’s best kept secrets. Most of her inspiration is drawn from her travels back and forth between Canada and her father, songwriter Russell Clepper’s home state of Texas. It was a time of rich musical discovery, during which she learned a lot about roots, gospel, bluegrass and folk, all of which helped shape her style and vocals.

What: Clepper gained critical and popular acclaim as a solo artist in Quebec, where she’s performed at several major events including the Montreal Jazz Festival. Now she’s making waves here in Austin with her band, The Coyotes, and their release of Dirt and Bones this past April.

When and Where: See Clepper & The Coyotes tonight at The White Horse, 500 Comal. Sophia Johnson kicks off the evening at 8 p.m., followed by Clepper & The Coyotes at 10 p.m., and Jimmie Dreams at midnight. Get ready to hit the dance floor, because you can’t resist. Recommended.
