The gratitude of music artists Maureen Paynter and Alejandra Cardenas (Bleached Roses) cannot be measured. In addition to making music, the two recently embarked upon a huge project that would take their work in yet another direction. The dream turned into a reality with the launch of FullNote Records, an Austin-based label specializing in booking and PR management for musicians. And what a journey it’s been.
Paynter and Cardenas also realized that they could utilize FullNote to help the music community at large, which is the idea behind tonight’s benefit show for the SIMS Foundation at Hotel Vegas, 1501 E. 6th St. It’s a showcase of all-local talent on the bill, including Carry Illinois, Mean Jolene, recent KUTX Artist of the Month Mamahawk (featured on today’s AMM), Bleached Roses, and Lola Tried front woman Lauren Burton, featured in a solo set. Proceeds benefit SIMS, which provides mental health and addiction recovery services for musicians, music industry professionals and their families in the community.
The show starts at 9 p.m. Awesome music and a most worthy cause. Recommended.
