Technically, Great Unknown is the debut album by Austin-based Americana/soul band The Watters, but core members Jenna and Daniel Watters have a musical history together spanning 11 years. Their very first performance was at their high school graduation in Sedona, AZ, and since then, they’ve collaborated on six different albums and previously toured as the The Oak Creek Band in Denver and Nashville before relocating to Austin last year.
Great Unknown was released earlier this month, and you can hear stripped-down versions of the tracks when The Watters present an acoustic performance tonight at Spider House Ballroom, 2906 Fruth St., as part of the Sun Sets Presents music series. Nevada City, CA songwriter Angelica Rockne opens the show at 7 p.m.
