Hot Summer Nights Friday

This is overwhelming – in the best way possible, of course, but completely overwhelming. One glance at the multiple Hot Summer Nights line-ups and your brain might explode. The free music series, organized by the nonprofit Red River Merchant’s Association, features some of the best local and nationally-known bands and music artists performing at participating venues along the Red River Cultural District.

And it’s free. Free shows, hoodlum. You’ll be venue-hopping this weekend because there are so many awesome bands to see.

Here’s a sneaky peak of what’s going down tonight, recommended on today’s Austin Music Minute:

-Head out early to Cheer Up Charlie’s this evening. There’ll surely be a line to see headliners White Denim. The bill includes Deep Time, Go Fever, The Stacks, Tyler Jordan & The Negative Space, The Diamond Center, Why Bonnie, Ama, Iji and more.

-It’s another big night at Empire Control Room with The Octopus Project (featured on today’s AMM), Trouble In the Streets, Sucka Please, CJ Edwards & The Funk Fellowship, and Groove Think.

-Make your way to Stubb’s to see El Tule, presented by Austin Vida. Los Kurados, Cecilia and The Broken Hearts and Roleros Cosmicos share the bill.

The Midnight Stroll headlines the show on the outside stage at the Mohawk, which includes Migrant Kids, Think No Think and Darkbird. The Swift Drag, Torino Black, The Sideshow Tragedy and Jeremy Nail play the inside stage.

Bridge Farmers takes over Beerland, with Cortege, Canyon of the Skull and Church Ov Melkarth. Rawk.

Radioactivity plays at Barracuda, with Bad Sports, Flesh Lights, Xetas and more.

Overwhelmed yet? This isn’t even a complete list. Recommended.
