It’s not uncommon for your humble Austin Music Minute host to be doing research on any given band and stumble upon reviews from England, Ireland, Japan, Norway…reviews from all over the place. Obviously, the world is keeping an ear on Austin’s richly talented music scene, and a band like Ringo Deathstarr is only too happy to take their music out there.
The Deathstarr trio released an exclusive limited-edition vinyl copy of their shoegaze feast-for-the-ears, God’s Dream, through Vinyl Junkie in Japan – a lovely treat for their most hardcore fans. They’ve done more than their share of touring round the world, playing festivals and selling out shows, so it’s an extra-special occasion when you can catch them doing a show in their hometown. You have that opportunity tonight. You can see Ringo Deathstarr play this evening at Holy Mountain, 617 E. 7th St., along with Midnight Masses, Bali Yaaah and Panoramas. Doors open at 9 p.m. Bring the earplugs and embrace the mighty reverb. An Austin Music Minute favorite. Recommended.
And here’s a sweet RD video for “Rip” with freaky mind cereal.
