Magnifique

Lisa-Kaindé Diaz and Naomi Diaz are twins, 20 years old. To hear the music they create, though, is to be immediately struck by how its richness sounds far beyond their years. Little wonder that one would marvel at such sonic gorgeousness; the artful blend of multiple cultures and languages – English, French, Spanish and Yoruba, a Nigerian language – will undoubtedly result in a fuller, multi-faceted expression of so many emotions. The extraordinary sound of Ibeyi will intoxicate you.

KUTX has it on very good authority that to truly experience Ibeyi is to see them perform live. You have that opportunity tonight at the Mohawk, 912 Red River, on the outside stage. Dallas-based electronic pop and R&B artist Sudie opens the show. Doors at 6:30 p.m. Following Ibeyi, you can see Vision Kids, AMM fave Vampyre and The Gospel Truth on the inside stage, at 8 p.m.

One phrase in Yoruba that your AMM host just learned: Ede kan ko to ri rara. One language is never enough. Recommended all around.
