Who: The artist behind the moniker Mobley is multi-talented singer, songwriter, producer and self-taught musician Anthony Watkins II. To say that he’s accomplished and committed to his art would be a gross understatement. It’s more like the passionate obsession of a man moving non-stop, living in places round the world and hungry for more. Mobley’s spent the past few years composing for stage and television, played more than 150 national tour dates with numerous established artists, and recorded not one but two entire albums before deciding to scrap them both to concentrate on his forthcoming debut, Fresh Lies.
What: Today’s Austin Music Minute features a little preview of things to come with the track “Swoon.” But you need to hear more, and you’ll get to do so at Mobley’s next show.
When and where: See Mobley tonight at a new venue in town, Tellers, 607 Trinity, on a great bill including West Without and Ghostbunny. The music starts at 9 p.m. Recommended.
