Midnight Rambler

It’s two thumbs up from the Austin Music Minute for this late-night gig worth staying up for. Rosie & The Ramblers take over the room at midnight at The White Horse on Monday nights, and, as you may know, I figured there was something special about the band when I caught sight of the t-shirts they were selling, which read: “SHUT UP.” Granted, there is a “please” in fine print there somewhere, but the message is an obvious one that’ll have you grinning. While front woman Selena Rosanbalm is all for love and romance, there’s no time to be wasted on double-talkin’, double-crossin’ good-for-nothings who give the whole thing a bad name. Sure, it’s great material for writing country-western songs, but that’s where she draws the line.

It’s that wicked sense of humor that makes these songs a stand-out. See Rosie & The Ramblers tonight at midnight at The White Horse, 500 Comal. Get there early to catch Emilie Klepper and Okie Weiss at 8 p.m., followed by Jimmie Dreams at 10 p.m. The perfect remedy for the Monday blahs. Recommended.
