Music For A Dream

Ringo Deathstarr fans in the U.S. were chomping at the bit when the Austin-based trio released their 9-track mini-album God’s Dream only in Japan through Vinyl Junkie Records back in December. Thankfully, in March, the album became available for download through the band’s website. European fans still have a chance to get a yellow vinyl copy through Invada Records, but they’ll have to act quickly because it’s a limited edition.

Either way, whether you’re able to get your hands on the vinyl or prefer a digital download, this is definitely one for your music collection. Rather than remaining confined to shoegaze boundaries, God’s Dream pushes further with fuller percussion, more synth, and excellent guitar work (with contributions by Adam Franklin of Swervedriver and Jeff Schroeder of The Smashing Pumpkins).

Before heading out on tour, Ringo Deathstarr has a couple of local shows coming up, including one tonight at Red 7, 611 E. 7th St., on the bill with headliner Bleeding Rainbow and Hola Beach. Doors open at 9 p.m. Recommended.
