My Pleasure Has Returned

Tinnarose did not expect the huge wave of attention they’d receive when they made their debut with their 2015 self-titled album. But lo and behold, their music got them selected as KUTX‘s inaugural Artist of the Month, along with rave reviews from music mags like PopMatters. Of course it was all exciting, but also a lot to take in within a short period of time.

After a roller coaster ride of emotions due to overwhelming pressure, the band went through a line-up change, moving forward as a trio and getting back on track with this year’s release, My Pleasure Has Returned. There is a deeply rooted love for ‘70s rock and folk sounds with trippy psych vibes on their follow-up, but they weren’t content to merely pay tribute to their influences. They instead focused on evolving their own aesthetic to create something evocative and stirring.

If you haven’t seen Tinnarose live, you’re in for a treat when they perform tonight at Cheer Up Charlie’s, 900 Red River. The bill includes sets by blues/garage rock monsters Magic Rockers of Texas, country folk-rockers El Campo, and songwriter Ben Ballinger. Doors at 8 p.m. Very recommended.
