We present this Austin Music Minute by posing an interesting question: Is it possible for a music festival to be…cozy? The answer is a resounding yes when it’s the Red White and Blue Ball.
This is the second year the mini music fest is being presented out at The Ball Farm in Dale, TX. Located about 25 miles from downtown Austin, the 62-acre farm has a shaded camping area (a welcome thing with high temps in the 100’s) and a rather impressive, high-end production stage for bands to perform. It’s the perfect combination of professional showmanship and laid-back atmosphere.
The Red White and Blue Ball is this Saturday, starting at 5 p.m., when the gates open. The music begins at dusk with a set by The Couch, followed by Roger Sellers, The Gents, Whiskey Shivers, Crooks and headliners Hard Proof Afrobeat. This is a local-music lover’s dream come true, people. Plus, food vendors and – look out – a water slide. Recommended.
