Not A Bedroom

There’s something delightfully unfiltered about the pop moods of local quartet Alex Napping, most notably with front woman Alex Cohen‘s blissfully delicate vocals wielding wry observations. The result is a raw emotional journey told through provocative poetry on their 6-track debut release, This Is Not A Bedroom. (2014, Punctum Records). Failed love, failed goals, foolish jaunts – things generally not-so-peachy keen are all taken on by Cohen’s dry wit.

Cohen, guitarist Adrian Haynes, bassist Tomas Garcia-Olano, and drummer Andrew Stevens started creating music for the band in late 2013. based on Cohen’s solo recordings. Although they’ve been performing together for a little less than a year, they’ve already made a hugely favorable impression upon music critics and fans alike with their candor.

Tonight, for the first time, Alex Napping will play at Lambert’s, 401 W. 2nd St. Joining them for their Lambert’s debut is Modern Medicine. Doors open at 9:30 p.m. Make it a point to get there early to see both. Recommended.
