Old pictures might be yellowed with age, but the memories they reawaken are stronger than ever. Such is the aural landscape of songwriter Graham Weber‘s new album, Faded Photos, touching upon a sweetness deep within the realm of heartache.
Faded Photos is a also a reflection of two places Weber has called home, his native Ohio and his current residence in Texas – a simultaneous occurrence then vivid contrast between a merciless, sun-drenched heat and a fierce winter chill. Both have shaken him to the core. Both are portraits of emotions running high and low, from the heat of passion to a love grown distant and cold.
The new album features the talents an all-star cast from Austin’s music scene, including Randy Reynolds (Leatherbag) on guitar, Adam Hilton (Linen Closet) on piano, Henna Chou (My Education) on cello, and string arrangements and mandolin courtesy of composer/musician Peter Stopschinski.
Weber will celebrate his new album with a full band at a special release show tonight at Hyde Park Theatre, 511 W. 43rd St., across from The Parlor. Get there by 7:30 p.m. Very recommended.
