Who: If you aren’t familiar with The SIMS Foundation, take the time to learn about it. In doing so, you’ll quickly discover why many musicians, and pretty much anyone involved with the local music community, are grateful for the work they do. SIMS provides access and financial support for mental health and addiction recovery to local music professionals and their family members. Were it not for SIMS, many working musicians would not be able to afford this health care.
What: Before the madness of SXSW commences, SIMS is inviting everyone to enjoy some excellent local music at their benefit show, “Of Sound Mind,” featuring Shapescenes (featured on today’s Austin Music Minute), The Rare Birds, idle ants, and recent KUTX Studio 1A guests The Halfways.
When and where: Tonight at Empire Control Room, 606 E. 7th St. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. Recommended.
