Out of Hibernation

Tacks, the Boy Disaster will tell you that the band is as ready as it’ll ever be for the actual physical release of their album Twelve Lions’ Paws. But perfectionism, as superb as it can make music sound, comes with a price. The band is just a tad behind on the hard copy release of the LP, although not for very much longer.

A lot of anticipation surrounds the album – after all, their last release, the EP Oh, Beatrice, came out in 2007. The band kept a low profile for a few years to work on their new music with producer Danny Reisch, and had a listening party in October last year to give fans a special preview.

This year, Tacks began performing around town again, including an excellent set they did during SXSW at The Parish for the Good Danny’s showcase. And you have another great opportunity to see them tonight at Club DeVille, 900 Red River. Also on the bill are songwriter Joanna Barbera with some new cassettes on hand, and local rock quintet Texas Never Whispers. Get there after 9 p.m. Recommended.
