Who: This kind of lightning strikes again and again. And again. But don’t take shelter. Indulge in the rock/punk rowdiness, the distortion, and the killer riffs. Imagine all the best parts of the high-voltage screams of dudes like Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson, Bon Scott AND Brian Johnson, all rolled into the vocal chords…of one woman. (Give a listen to “Target,” the track featured on today’s Austin Music Minute.) And that’s just one element of this entire equation. This is the power of Purple, a trio out of Beaumont, TX with a rapidly-growing fan base here and worldwide. Taylor Busby, Hanna Brewer and Joe Cannariato have been touring quite a bit in support of last year’s full-length release, 409, and played their first London show back in May.
What: Wait, what’s that? You’ve never seen Purple live before? You cannot miss out on their next show. They’re taking over Spider House Ballroom and showing no mercy.
When: Get out there tonight. Doors open at 9 p.m., and the music kicks off at 10 p.m. with Buhu, then Otis the Destroyer.
Where: SHB is located at 2906 Fruth St.
Why: This will set your soul – and your eardrums – on fire. And if you think turning it up to 11 is gonna cover it, you’re not even close. So recommended it hurts.
