Psych Soul Brother

King Khan and The Shrines have been playing for nearly twenty years, but even now, plenty of new fans are discovering the band’s outrageously maniacal and electrifying live dynamic. They are not of this world, funk worshippers. It’s a mind-meld of psych, soul, rock and the spirit of punk rolled into one enormous, unstoppable runaway groove fest led by madman front man King Khan. There are several good reasons why he’s often referred to as the “Indian James Brown.”

No exaggeration here. Satisfy your psych-soul cravings with King Khan and The Shrines tonight at the Mohawk, 912 Red River, on the outside stage. Giorgio Murderer and Sailor Poon share the bill, then annihilate your senses with Jason and the Annihilators and Josh Allen & The Whiskey Brothers on Mohawk’s inside stage. You’ll be overwhelmed in the best way possible. Very recommended. And look out for a flying King Khan. You’ll be fine if you remember to duck.
