Listening to the beautiful six-track Put Me Together EP by Guest Rooms, the ambient musical project of songwriter Mason Parva, left your humble Austin Music Minute host a little misty-eyed. No exaggeration. Music with raw, unabashed emotional depth will always stir something within, and in this case, the listener is confronted by something enormously complex and painful.
Released earlier this year. Put Me Together presents a powerful and intricate narrative dealing with loss, along with the intense emotions and questions surrounding it. Parva describes it as “a snapshot of what was true for a time and is no longer…a temporary stay in a transient place.”
This is one not to miss. Join Guest Rooms for a belated EP release show tonight at Cheer Up Charlie’s, 901 Red River. Happy Hell and King Warbler are also on the bill. The music starts at 9:30 p.m. Recommended.
